To complete this refurbishment before the busy summer season and to keep the pub operating on the busiest days of the week, we were given possession of the site for two four day periods only, with the pub operating for three days in between. This tight schedule required work 24 hours a day over the two periods to not only hand over on time at the end of the project, but also after the end of the first work period. We were able to complete both the internal and external works on programme despite several latent conditions and long lead times on specific design items. This was a result of our detailed planning (including construction programmes by the hour), a flexible, open and collaborative approach, a high calibre project and subcontract team, and continual communication with all stakeholders.
